Program "10 Roads To Reach The Stars"

2002 - Way point in my life - I lost the ground from under my feet.
Right after that, I fracture my foot and am unable to walk the few steps needed to make it safely to my house. The mystery of life is that having to deal with all that,I feel like I’ve changed, more measured, maybe…better, I learned a lot. Try to have a good time, to not to hesitate and try not to be afraid to express that which we feel, regardless of the opposition that may or not be posed. Life is too short for us to make it ‘’small’’. So then, let us try to make it ‘’Big’’, not in length, but in quality.
Anyway…Man proposes, but God disposes.
Seresta dance Company at Knossos Theater
Review in newspaper "Eleftherotipia" by Mirka Psaropoulou
13th May 2003
‘10 Roads to Reach the Stars’ the poetic title to the April performance cycle at the Knossos Theater, by the ‘Seresta’ Dance Company.
10 routes to the skies for the mortals, without ‘crash potential’ as there is no return possible. Both the monetary income and all the memories go to the fight against Cancer. They were organized by the founder of the company, Christina Beskou, who choreographed 5 of the 10 choreographies in the program. In memory of her dearly loved father Iannis, one of the countless victims of this incurable disease of the immortal mortals.
‘Death’ the first piece, to music by Astor Piazzola, is the imposingly moving choreography by Christina Beskou, imposing in its movements. Making use of the stylized simplicity, of movement by the 8 dancers, shedding light on the metaphysical expression, this lashes the spectator and unleashes his memories. The costumes by Kybelis Zaxariou befit the spirit of the choreography.
In a wave of euphoria that permeates expressions of lost pleasures in life, her next choreography, ‘Seresta’, to music by Paquito D’Rivera, Seresta signal piece, characterized as well by the beautiful movements and well executed shapes of the 5 dancers.
With a very real possibility to stand on its own, as a full fledged performance, ‘Study on Rigoletto’, has all the elements that can be made into a success. Intelligent chorographical elements to the wonderful music by Giuseppe Verdi.
